For over 10 years, we have worked on fostering a positive teaching and learning approach of Maths for parents with children in Primary School. (Years 3, 4, 5 & 6) to help them become more confident and self reliant when solving number problems.
At Tuition 5SN, we offer parents a comprehensive math resource with step-by-step examples to support them in teaching their children Maths concepts at home, aligning with current day school curriculum strategies. This resource complements and reinforces what students are learning in school, catering to those in Years 3-6, and alleviates the challenges of teaching and learning.
Meet Schola
I'm Schola, and I'm thrilled to introduce you to the 5 Step Maths Method for teaching Maths. Our approach is centred on understanding where each student stands and progressively building upon that foundation. With 15 years of teaching experience, I've had the privilege of instructing in various international schools, Montessori schools, and both public and independent schools throughout Australia.
Navigating diverse school systems and curricula over the years has required me to adapt to evolving educational needs for both my students and my own two children, who encountered their own challenges with Maths. This journey has given me valuable insights into the difficulties Math poses for learners and the complexities of supporting your own child as they grapple with Math concepts and skills.
My passion as a teacher has spurred me to seek effective strategies and engaging methods, inspired by the joy children express when they discover solutions, master new skills, and develop their confidence as Maths learners. Over time, I've successfully experimented with various strategies, and I'm delighted to now share them with you.
As a parent and educator, I've come to appreciate the significance of patience and empathy when a child encounters novel concepts, techniques, or applications. It's crucial to convey to learners that it's perfectly okay not to grasp new Mathematical ideas instantly. For, in the end, with a positive and engaged attitude, the desired results will invariably follow.
This optimistic perspective has transformed the teaching and learning process into an enjoyable voyage, where all of us—parents, students, and teachers—can embrace the notion that mistakes are part of the journey and that we can collectively uncover solutions along the way!

- Parents who frequently inquired about ways to support their children with Maths at home.
- The children I teach and tutor every day: the misconceptions, avoidance or lack of confidence when faced with Maths equations, observed during my daily teaching & tutoring.
- My own daughters, who encountered challenges with Maths yet were resolute NOT to attend tuition.
